The Material
Copper on thatched roofs

Copper on thatched roofs combats biocides and moss
The oxygen compound with water causes oxidation of the copper and an oxide layer is formed.
The copper ions emitted with the rain form an anti-algae protection on the roof, prevent the settling of algae, mosses, and lichen growing.
Mushrooms that destroy the reet can thus become worse in the roof because the moisture of the moss formation is missing.

On request, we can also manufacture oak wooden riders, called hanging timbers, for you. The wooden riders are handmade, approx. 100 cm long and approx. 15 cm in diameter. The square or round timber is either mortised (wooden nail) or screwed mechanically. Riding woods serve to protect and stabilize the thatched ridge, the wooden poles standing at an angle are attached at a distance of about half a meter like riders above the heather ridge tip.
